Sheila Cater was born in England.
Her father's job took her family to South America. Having visited
other South American countries she lived mainly in Ecuador and
Peru. Sheila completed her education and then worked in a British
firm as a stenographer for a few years. Soon after she moved to
Vancouver, BC, Canada where she married and had two children, never
thinking or dreaming of being an artist during those many busy
years raising a family.
During the beginning of her retirement, Sheila moved to Penticton, BC
to be near her two children. It was there in "Sandbridge" that
Sheila decided buy a home and met artist Bernie
Cattani who taught art at the Clubhouse and it was there that
Bernie encouraged Sheila to start painting. Having been told she
was "artistic" for many years, Sheila was anxious to start .
Sheila has continued with the Sandbridge
Painting Group, now being led by Bernie's friend, artist Angie
McIntosh. With the group's
enthusiasm, Sheila is sure she will continue to paint and enjoy every
moment.
